Building a compassionate community that draws people
from all cultures and generations into an authentic, intimate and supernatural
life with Jesus Christ.
Community
We understand that whatever we do, we do it together.
At the heart of the Gospel is the understanding that to be in Christ is
to be in meaningful relationship with a segment of God's People - The Local
Church.
Jesus said, "They will know you are my disciples by your love." God has
chosen to reveal himself through the dynamics of our shared life. People
will see and experience the reality of Jesus through our loving fellowship.
No one has to go it alone. It is in this community that we find the strength
and support to pursue God and grow as disciples.
Cultures And Generations
God has been growing us into an urban church that is ethnically and culturally
diverse and spans multiple generations. This reflects the reality of our
neighbors. We are not willing to be a church with one skin color or at
one economic level. We want to reflect the diversity of our urban center.
We also know that God has specifically called us to pass on the heritage
of our faith to succeeding generations. Each of us must come alongside
of those who are younger and encourage them in their pursuit of Christ.
(Psalms 71:18 Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, O God,
till I declare your power to the next generation, your might to all who
are to come.)
We also believe in Jesus' world mandate to make disciples
of all nations. We want to reach beyond our own borders until people from
every nation, language, and culture have entered the Kingdom of God.
Life With Jesus Christ
This is the true center. Everything else revolves around Jesus. He is
the mediator between God and man. He is the image of God to which we are
being conformed. There is no other way to God and no other way to be nurtured
in the life that God gives.
It is more than a creed and even more than a relationship.
it is a total way of life in which we invest the whole of our lives. Paul
said, "In Him we live and move and have our being". (Acts
17:28)
As Christians we are invited to live our life with Jesus.
He is in us by his Spirit, walks with us, communicates with us, leads
and directs us. He enables us to operate within the "Kingdom of God Among
Us".
