I have been part of the Viña/Vineyard staff as a pastor since 2001, serving the Hispanic community in the Heights. It has been my joy to play a part in our church becoming more racially, economically and culturally diverse.
We've come a long way, transitioning from our Spanish-speaking Viña meetings in the Storehouse to a Sunday morning multicultural and bilingual experience. When we worship together on Sundays, over 25 countries are represented! What we are creating represents not only our cosmopolitan city, but provides a glimpse of what I believe heaven will be like. We have diversity and a unique flavor-especially through our bilingual worship, which in itself is a great cross-cultural experience. We have also played a significant part in church planting in countries like Mexico, Colombia and Turkey.
Iglesia Vineyard leaders, along with a wonderful group of volunteers, are committed to Hogg Middle School in very significant ways, and we are also reaching out to the less fortunate in our community. We are bridge builders between languages and cultures. My desire is to see active kingdom builders serving as an extension of God’s love and mercy.
I’ve been married for almost 20 years to my beautiful wife Virginia, and we have two children, David Jonathan (avid drummer and awesome sound guy) and Carlabigail (our songbird). My favorite hobbies are traveling and trying out different culinary experiences within our multicultural city. |
