JESSICA LEWIS, Worship & The Arts

I am so excited to be serving The Vineyard Church of Houston as Pastor of Worship and the Arts. Isaiah 61 is a favorite chapter of the Bible for me, and asking the Lord to heal the brokenhearted and give a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair is my life mission. I love to see God do this through healing music, and in my work as a counselor.

I first heard about the Vineyard during my college years at Baylor University. During that time, I was playing on the worship team and leading a life group at Highland Baptist church. Interestingly, we used a lot of Vineyard songs. Upon graduation I moved back home to Houston and became involved leading worship at the Kingwood Vineyard. During the summers of 1998 and 1999, I traveled with a worship band from Antioch Community Church in Waco across Europe, worshipping in churches, coffee houses and street corners. I started attending the Houston Vineyard in 1998 and have been serving on our church’s worship team since then.

Professionally, I earned a master’s degree in counseling in 2003 and currently am in private practice as a psychotherapist. I came on staff with the Vineyard in September 2006.

I have been married to Nate Dickerson since June 17, 2006, and we share a love of music. Nate is an English teacher at Lamar and plays bass with the worship team. We enjoy spending time with our cats, Sammy and Charlotte, traveling, going out to dinner, and relaxing on the back porch with good friends.

I love our church and am honored to serve as the Pastor of Worship and the Arts.
