Children’s Community Mission Statement:
“We desire to maintain a creative children’s community that excels in nurturing, teaching, supporting, shepherding, and preparing the next generation. We accomplish this through communicating the story of God in an exciting, balanced, and age-appropriate way that encourages faith in Jesus Christ.”
In the nursery and children’s department, we have a plan for every stage of your child’s development, utilizing our community’s best and brightest talent to creatively infuse kids with excitement about learning the Bible. We use a variety of methods; art, music, puppets, drama, film, games and object lessons.
Nursery through Pre-K
The Vineyard’s nursery cares for children ranging in age from birth to pre-K. This is, by far, the cutest department in the church, and we feel one of the most important! It is here (and at home of course) that children first learn about the Bible, hear about Jesus’ great love for them, and sing their first worship songs. It is here that they get their first impressions of church and Sunday school. Our nursery staff takes this responsibility seriously and has created an atmosphere that is colorful, exciting, clean, and safe!
Elementary (Kindergarten through 5th Grade)
In children’s church, we are walking through the Bible, book by book. We started in the New Testament, and currently are in ACTS. We truly believe that the Bible’s truths, when communicated effectively, are far better than any movie, fairy tale, comic book, or video game imaginable! Our children enjoy breakfast, sing, dance, have a group lesson, and then divide into small group classrooms for crafts, games, and prayer.
Baby Dedications
While we do not baptize infants at The Vineyard, we do encourage parents to follow the example of Jesus’ parents in Luke 2:22 and of Hannah in 1 Samuel. A few times a year, we offer opportunities for parents to stand before the church to publicly dedicate their children. This usually involves making commitments to your child and the church community making commitments as well. If you are interested in dedicating your baby, please register here and someone will contact you with more information.
